Ron & Elaine Cougler
Ron Cougler is a former Business Studies teacher and department head with over 30 years of classroom experience, where he specialized in making learning accessible, engaging, and practical. A prolific author and puzzle designer, Ron has written high school textbooks, created educational puzzle materials, and seen his brain-teasers featured in national publications such as Reader’s Digest, Our Canada, and Renaissance magazine—designing the Brainy Puzzlers series to help older adults challenge their minds, build new neural pathways, and stay sharp. He is joined by his wife, Elaine Cougler, a fellow 30-year veteran educator turned accomplished historical fiction author, whose shared passion for lifelong learning and community wellness helps bring the Brainy Puzzlers project to life.
As major research from institutions like Harvard Medical School and the Mayo Clinic shows, our brains retain the remarkable ability to adapt, learn, and form new connections at any age—a principle known as neuroplasticity.
Created by Ron Cougler and Elaine Cougler, this three-part booklet series is designed around a simple truth: "Use it and improve it." Whether you are looking to stay sharp, challenge your memory, or proactively curb age-related cognitive decline, Brainy Puzzlers offers fun, engaging, and scientifically inspired mental workouts to keep your mind healthy and active.
Best of all, all proceeds from the purchase of these booklets are generously donated directly to South Gate Centreto support vibrant senior programming and community wellness.
